Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF or Kynar or Hylar or Sygef) is a fluoropolymer giving a high performance, characterized by a  good chemical resistance (especially to strong acids, with thermal applicability range: -40 ° C / 150 ° C.

It is used for gaskets, pressure pipes, parts for pumps and valves. Suitable components for use in medical devices,  food service products. It is also used for some laboratory practices.

Its high electrical and ignition resistance makes it  widely used (including insulation), despite the relatively high cost. It has also a piezoelectric propriety  (vibrates when placed inside a variable electric field), that makes  it very suitable for the production of  components of sound speakers.
